BB-Accessibility Course Available in Several Ways
From ATHEN
Andy Jacobsen sent email to the BB Accessibility group on 9/12/08 providing the following information:
The Documentation Sub-Group launched the Accessibility and Universal Design Course in July and interest in the course has been astounding. While the content has been well-received, we have received a lot of feedback from this group and others about issues downloading and restoring the course. I would like to make the group aware of some positive changes that we have made to fix those issues.
We have updated the CE/Vista version of the course to work successfully with release 8.0.1.x. Based on your feedback, we have also created separate download packages so that it is easier for users to access the correct version depending on the product they have licensed. The courses can be found through these links and can be downloaded by anyone: Blackboard Academic Suite, Release 8 or Blackboard Learning System - CE and Vista, Release 8
Finally, we have heard from several users not on Release 8 that are very interested in the course, as well as those who may not have the ability to install a course on their own Blackboard server. We do not have versions available for earlier releases, however, we do have a hosted version of the course available at http://coursesites.blackboard.com. The course is free and open to all users that create an account. To access the course, go to http://coursesites.blackboard.com and create an account from the module called Login Here. Then find the “Browse Course Catalog” link on the My Institution tab, search the course catalog for the keyword “accessibility” and the course will appear in the list below. It is open enrollment, so anyone can login and use it.
Course ID: accessibility_course
Course Name: Universal Design and Accessibility for Online Courses
Instructors: Cheryl Todd, Beth Stinson
A special thanks to Kathy Fernandes and California State University, Chico for helping us identify these issues and test the resolution.
Andy
